Located in London’s East end, Mystic Rabbit Art Studio offers custom tattoo work that is personal and unique to suit each client’s individual vision. Working in the tattoo industry across the country for nearly two decades has given owner and artist, Artie Ostrowski, a unique perspective to create a private studio that is professional, clean, and relaxing which sets it apart from traditional street tattoo shops. Since opening in 2015, Artie has made it a priority to ensure that every experience in his studio is a comfortable, positive and memorable one.

SO WHY IS IT A PRIVATE STUDIO?

I’ve worked in a few different shops over the many years that I’ve been tattooing, and from my personal experience, I have concluded that my clients enjoyed a personal one-on-one experience more so than getting tattooed in an overstimulating public environment. Getting tattooed can be quite a stressful process for many people, so I decided to create a private studio space that would alleviate some of that stress and anxiety and provide my clients with a more enjoyable tattoo experience.

PRIVACY

Not everyone is comfortable getting tattooed while being exposed in a wide-open space with a lot of people around, and I fully understand that. Although my studio is an open-concept space, by keeping it a private studio and appointment based, it minimises interruptions from public traffic. Working in a private studio allows my clients to feel safe and eliminates the anxiety of feeling exposed in front of a crowd of people.

ATMOSPHERE

Usually when you walk into a shop there is loud music playing, many noisy tattoo machines buzzing simultaneously from many different artists, people talking loudly. It all can be overstimulating, distracting and can often be annoying. At my studio, I keep the music to an enjoyable lower level so that my clients and I can have a conversation without having to yell. My rotary tattoo machines are very quiet which helps if you feel anxious from the buzzing sound of traditional coil tattoo machines. Overall, I’ve created a peaceful environment in which many clients and feel relaxed. Some have even fallen asleep while getting tattooed.

CLEANLINESS

It’s not easy keeping a shop clean and safe when there are many artists working on many clients in one space together. The risk of cross-contamination is a lot higher in a studio where there are a lot of people and where artists work very near one another. My private studio gives me total control of my workspace, which allows me to maintain a cleaner environment for my guests. Before each appointment my studio is cleaned and floors are mopped. After every appointment, each surface is completely cleaned and disinfected above the recommended health code standards and practices. Each instrument is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected as well. The bathroom is entirely disinfected after each appointment, including the sink, counters, toilet, soap dispenser and all door knobs. Floors are mopped again after each appointment. Running a clean and safe tattoo establishment is critical and should be of top priority in this industry, which is why I take cleanliness very seriously.

PERSONAL

  • Working in my own private studio allows for a more personal relationship with my clients.
  • Conversations through emails and over the phone are directly with Katlyn (assistant) and myself, where we can start your tattoo experience.
  • In-house consultations are never rushed, as I feel it is important to hear everything you have to say about the tattoo you are looking to get. Meeting in person also helps to eliminate pre-appointment jitters since we’ve had a chance to meet and you’ve had a chance to check out the tattoo space. Also chatting directly with you during a consultation allows for a more personal approach to designing custom artwork for each client. Consultations are done on Tuesday and Thursday’s usually at 3:30pm.
  • At other shops, artists may have many appointments throughout one day, not giving your tattoo, the attention it deserves. At my private studio, I only tattoo one client per day. This means that your entire appointment day is devoted to you and your tattoo. One client per day allows my artistic abilities to remain fresh while I strictly focus on your tattoo.
